Conspiracy Theory is a small Ottawa brewery that makes fun, single-batch beers themed around urban legends and conspiracy theories. Their beers have quirky names like Area 51Cream Ale, Cousin Yeti Pale Ale, and Flat Earth Blood Orange IPA. Each one tells a playful story.
My concept for this can was a monster over the city story. This giant spider would take over the city, relentlessly searching for her baby. This concept creates powerful visuals and a story that can really connect with viewers, making for an engaging beer label design.
My sketches all varied in styles and layouts but the spider being the focal point of the illustration remained. Leading me to only display the spider, Rideau Canal and her tears.
The over all layout of the beer can shifted a bit. my modifications were pushed by how the product would look on shelves. I chose to center the important information and to adjust my font fairing.
overall, the changes I made to the illustration made it more approachable, given it's subject matter. I am happy with the simple and clean design and had a great time with this project.
